In 1959 Charles E. Bay and Robert L. Bay purchased Gedge Oil  Company in Butler Kentucky.  Charles' son, Robert (Bob) managed the business while Charles worked on furnaces.  At that time, Home Heating and Oil, furnace service and installation accounted for nearly all of those business.

In 1969, Licking Valley Oil moved from the city of Butler to HWY 27, South of Butler where it remains today.

In 1974, Charles retired from Licking Valley Oil to organize a group of investors to build River Valley Nursing Home in Butler Kentucky.  In his nineties, Charles is to this day chairman of the board of directors of the nursing home.

In 1988, David L. Bay joined Licking Valley Oil.  Today, David is the President and runs the day to day operations of the different businesses.

In 1999, after 40 years of Directing Licking Valley Oil, Bob retired from the business.  He passed away in December of 2001.  Although he is not with us, Licking Valley Oil will always reflect the values and hard work that he put into the company.

Today along with Home Heating Oil, we operate BB's Shell Branded convenience stores, sell lubricants, transport products, and manage rental property.

We have fifty-five wonderful employees.
